Media Response
Take Back the News' Media Response Project was made up of Board Members, community activists, victim advocates, survivors and concerned citizens who responded to media coverage of rape and sexual assault in local and nationally known newspapers. We encourage you to do the same. When we read a news article on sexual assault that we believe misrepresents the crime, including by blaming the victim or by doubting the occurrence of the assault, we contact the editor of the newspaper or the reporter who wrote the article to alert them to their irresponsible reporting and how their reporting can be improved. We also encourage you to write a letter to an editor or reporter who has done a positive or exemplary job in reporting responsibly on a sexual assault.
